Thanks for letting me get all this out! Whew!!!!!
EBAY SUCKS THE MONEY OUT OF SELLERS! Thank you for the platform to release the flood of anger beating against my brain and creating pulses in my neck I never knew were there. Recently, I itemized items for sale on eBay. After putting the picture and item information, the eBay seller page makes suggestions to you on regarding how to have a better chance of selling your item. Man, did I ever fall for their sales pitch. Little did I know how much those little extra charges would add up in the end. For instance, they suggested putting a picture in the Gallery, adding extra pictures, bold listing, etc. Then on top it, after I put a ridicuosly lot starting bid price, the prompter said it advised a lower price and that having a "reserve" price would basically turn off potential buers. Well, I ended up starting at $0.01, with no reserve. My eBay fees totalled over $62.00, and I took in about $30 on absolutely beautiful, mostly vintage jewelry. One buyer actually sent me an apology for getting 4 pairs of earrings for $.01. One pair was sterling silver with a border of 1/8" width marcasites and a big onyx center. As I sat devastated looking at my beautiful jewelry closing at $0.01, $0.25, and $0.30, someone e-mailed asking if I combined shipping, which could be considered a reasonable request, at any other moment, but not then. After the annihilation was over, I looked at the bidding. To my surprise, on several of the items, someone had taken to the unscrupulous act of bidding against themselves, thereby creating the illustion that there were 9 bidders fighting it out for the item. They put bids in for .01, .10, .25, etc. There were no other bidders, just them. When I turned to the eBay chat customer service person, to complain about this, they had the nerve to say "well, they were just trying to meet your price" Whick was totally a slap in the face since I started the bidding at $0.01 with no reserve. They were not trying to meet my price, since they met it at the first $0.01 they had bid. They were just trying to chase away other bidders who were not into competing with several others. I asked to be put in touch with a Manager, and the rep sent me to a e-mail address to lodge my complaint. The problem with that was it asked for the ID of the person I was complaining about, and when I put in the bidders ID, it was rejected as not being valid. I did this for all the others who had also bid against themselves, and the same thing happened. Consequently, I got no where with my complaint. I also contacted the chat representative to have the automatic payment removed from my account. She claimed that she did it, and then did not even properly end our conversation, I just got a print out that the agent had ended the call. Today, I received an invoice stating that the automatic payment will be put through. Of course, since I did not make any money selling over 17 items, so my bank account is not in the best of shape until payday. Don't forget besides the financial loss, on eBay, the items still have to be wrapped with wrapping material, then you have to go to the post office. I even had a buyer, after winning the bid, and knowing what the shipping cost would be, ask for me to find a cheaper way to ship. I send everything Priority Mail so I can get a Delievery Confirmation Receipt, which I pay for. Today, I chatted with an eBay rep about the automatic withdrawal telling her I had cancelled it prior to receiving the invoice. She said she was going to have to turn it over to another department since there seemed to be a technical issue that needed to be taken care of. I will never sell on eBay again. They get you coming and going, between their fees, and then PayPal. The final staw was when the person paid through PayPal and it said the address was not verified and for me to find out how I could insure myself for that. Another fee? With eBay - uPay!
Thanks for letting me get all this out! Whew!!!!!
That felt good.
